Parag Agrawal was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter when Jack Dorsey (co-founder and former CEO) stepped down after serving as the CEO of Twitter from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2015 to 2021.
Parag Agrawal was born in 1984 in India and completed his BTech in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
He also has a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Professional Journey
Before joining Twitter, he worked in Research teams of Microsoft, Yahoo and AT&T from June 2006 to September 2010.
He joined Twitter in October 2011 as an engineer and was also titled as “Distinguished Engineer”. He worked as an engineer at Twitter till October 2017.
In October 2017, he was named Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Twitter and was responsible for technical strategy of Twitter. He was also responsible for overseeing implementation of Machine Learning and AI across Twitter’s revenue, consumer and science teams.
He has also worked to address some critical issues like large-scale password security issues and also was a lead in Twitter’s decentralization project.
Jack Dorsey’s ambitious project was position Twitter as a social media which runs on decentralized platform and hence Project Bluesky was born and Parag Agrawal would take the charge of it.

Parag Agrawal is married to Vineeta Agrawal, who works as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (investment company) and leads investments into companies in biological space.
Parag Agrawal and Vineeta Agrawal have one son.
